Take a Food Tour of the Usa for a Vacation With a Difference

In the modern age, travel is such a large part of people’s everyday lives. In fact, given today’s fast-paced lifestyle, it’s hard to imagine that not so long ago, the idea of going on vacation was a rare luxury rather than a growing necessity. And, as the travel industry across the world has boomed, so too have the number of different types of vacations people in America are taking.

These days, holidays often revolve around a theme: skiing holidays in Lake Tahoe or Colorado are common, as are shopping holidays to some of America’s most famous malls. But, if you really want a travel experience with a difference, why not take a food tour of the United States – you’ll find a range of culinary delights available to tickle your taste-buds!

Take a trip to the Deep South on a food travel excursion and you’ll find a wealth of fine foods to sample and enjoy on your vacation. The culinary landscape of America’s southern states has always formed a large part of the lifestyle of its inhabitants; and if you’re embarking on a food tour of America, make sure you don’t miss out on its special and unique offerings!

Taste legendary American desserts, like Pecan Pie and Mississippi-Mud Pie, as well as authentic Kentucky fried chicken. Whether you’re in New Orleans, Atlanta or Austin, you’ll be able to sample some of the finest Cajun and Creole cuisine in the US, as well as partake in the long Soul Food tradition! From chitterlings (pig’s tripe) to Gumbo soup and Jambalay, food tourists in the Deep South are sure to enjoy an enriching vacation!

Anyone interested in embarking on food tours through the USA should also explore the culinary realms of New England on their excursions. From Massachusetts to Vermont, New England’s speciality foods are known for being simple yet high quality cuisine. For instance, New Haven boasts its reputation as the creator of the hamburger – and with a history that dates back to 1895, New Haven burgers are a must-have for any American food fan.

If you’re visiting Maine, make sure to sample Maine lobster – the state’s most famous export worth over $70 million a year. Legend has it that the lobster industry in the region was once so prosperous that lobster was even fed to chickens! And people visiting New England today will be able to taste this special lobster in one of the many roadside lobster shacks that adorn Maine’s coastline.

If you’re looking for more exciting destinations to visit on your trip around America’s greatest food spots, visit San Francisco during the San Francisco Crab Season, which boasts some of the worlds best crab markets and crab festivals annually from mid-November to June. Inspired by a range of immigrant communities, be sure to taste the region’s famous Dungeness crab, which is available in a variety of forms and flavours: from Italian dishes to Chinese and Vietnamese crab recipes, food lovers will adore the range of speciality crab dishes available in San Francisco during crab season!

While you’re in California, why not also sample some of the state’s local produce? Local farmers markets in California are well known for a range of foods, including artichoke, avocados, goat’s cheese and a range of other green produce. And why not indulge in some of California’s well-known Napa Valley wine while you’re on your food tour? You’ll experience the best wine and food the golden state has to offer – a pleasurable experience that is sure to round off your food tour of the USA nicely.

When embarking on a food tour of the US, you’re sure to find a range of food and hotel packages to suit your palate – regardless of the destination you visit. So, why not prepare your taste-buds for an experience to savour?

Start To Take Care Of Yourself Before It’s Too Late

Sometimes I get as fed up reading health articles as I do writing them, but write them I must! Why? Well, because someone has to take on the huge task of putting out and repeating the message that if we don’t take good care of ourselves we’ll most likely get sick when we shouldn’t get sick. We’ll also end up fat when we should be slim, and perhaps become depressed when we should be happy and content! A lot of mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing is within our control, but the way that so many off us stress out and pig out these days, it’s little wonder we’re a nation growing up with that silent of killers, High Blood Pressure!

I mean let’s face it! The eating habits that most of us have are appalling to say the least. Oh, we can lay to rest the term ‘junk food’ in favor for ‘convenience food’, but I think we all know what’s good and what’s not. It’s the ‘convenience’ that has so many of us stocking up with frozen boxes full of meals that drastically lack in vitamins, minerals, or anything that’s of real nutritional value to the human body.

How many of you have considered high blood pressure, heart disease, and your cholesterol levels? I wonder how many of you answer that with an ‘I do’? If you’re one of those that don’t, then I seriously suggest you do some research and re-evaluating.

I couldn’t believe it when I read a recent study which said the average American consumes fast food meals twice a day. TWICE A DAY! Can you believe that? Are you one of them? Just take a minute out here and reflect on your daily or weekly meals. Maybe you are just asking for high blood pressure, or perhaps you’re so sick and tired with life in general, that you don’t care what happens to you, although I doubt this is the case if you’re reading this article.

What writers like me try to do is install in the minds of the reader a ‘healthy fear’ in order to plant a seed which may start you thinking about making certain changes in your lifestyle. Call it mental obsessions or physical cravings, but eating all the wrong foods and slouching around in armchairs are nothing more than bad habits. A habit is simply an acquired behavior pattern regularly followed until it has become almost involuntary. But the good news is that habits can be broken so long as you find something to replace them with.

One of the problems with obesity and out-of-shape people is that these things don’t actually kill us! Well they do, but not directly. Our death certificates will read something like ‘Stroke induced by High Blood pressure’ or heart attack/disease, multiple organ failure and the like. No one has ‘died of fat’ or ‘Passed away due to Idleness’ etc. Just as a chain smoker may die of lung cancer, but it’s really the smoking that caused it in the first place.

So common folks get some love back into your lives and start to take care of yourselves before it’s too late. Ain’t none of us getting any younger you know, and the ole body can only take so much. Find a new way to eat healthily and get some regular exercise. If you stick with it, great times will follow and you will know a new freedom and a new happiness like you never thought possible. But it can only work if you work it so work it you’re worth it.

Take Control of Your Health Today

Are you someone who admits that she has not always been conscious of the status of her health? It is time to change this attitude! It is so important to lead the healthiest lifestyle you can because you will feel more energized and much happier no matter what age you are. Everyone has a different routine that works best for them. You might love drinking smoothies in the morning and enjoying time in the sauna room before bed or you might need to exercise five times a week and follow that up with a freshly tossed salad for dinner. Regardless of what works best for you, here are some tips everyone should consider when they are making the conscious effort to embrace a healthier lifestyle.

1)  Eliminate bad habits that are a waste of money and are proven to take a toll on your health. Smoking cigarettes or drinking too heavily on a regular basis are both habits that you need to break if either is a vice of yours. Both have very serious health effects which only worsen over time. Do whatever you can to stop smoking and decrease your drinking! Your body will not stay healthy if you weaken it with these substances!

2) Start exercising! If you are not accustomed to hitting the treadmill for an hour every day, then it is fine to take things slowly. Start with a brisk thirty minute walk in the morning or early evening. Once that feels easy, increase the time or start jogging. You can always join a gym (join with a friend, it is more motivating) and have a few sessions with a personal trainer so that you learn how to use the machines correctly. After a hard work-out, enjoy some time in a steam sauna. The hot humid air will clear out your lungs and relax your sore muscles so that you feel refreshed.

3) Eat nutritiously! Even though pigging out on cake, cookies, and ice cream may feel great at the moment, it definitely does not make you feel good later. You need to cut down on the sweets and fill up on vegetables, fruits, and whole grains! You can make this food taste delicious without adding too much fat or salt. Begin researching recipes and start experimenting! You might just discover that everything tastes much better than you thought.

Combine these three steps and you are well on your way to being much healthier! Now you just have to stick with it. You might want to motivate yourself by purchasing a home sauna; take a nice steam bath every week if you stick to your health goals!
